Porta Mesagne

Porta Mesagne, as Porta Lecce, is an important and ancient entrance (gate) to the city, flanked by her antique fortified Aragon walls, the defensive system of the XVI century, subsequently modified by Charles V, who added the 'Bastioni', rampart strategic towers.
The ogee arched entrance is of Swebian origin which ages back to approximately 1243, the smaller entrance was built in the 1930's
